CEDARS is committed to enhancing students’ learning experience and providing co-curricular programmes to help achieve the HKU educational aims.
CEDARS-Student Development (SD) Section nurtures students to become contributing members of the community through a variety of educational programmes and activities outside the classroom.
Overview of SD Programmes:
The Student Development Programmes provided by CEDARS are structured into three categories and three levels.
The three categories are: Service Learning which improves skills and standards in community service, Global Citizenship that enhances students’ determination to contribute to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, and Leadership which nurtures students to lead and serve.
Each category is split into three different levels of skills training, beginning with Exposures and Engagement which are general activities for students to learn more about the type of activities, then Development and Enhancement which deepens student’s knowledge and skills in the work and finally Self-initiative and Funding Opportunity for students with enough experience to propose and implement their own projects with funding from CEDARS.
The levels only serve as an indicator of the skills required for each activity, therefore students eligible for advanced activities are still invited to join basic level ones.
