Students with a Disability

In order to provide all students with equal learning opportunities to participate fully in the HKU’s rich and diverse student life, CEDARS offers specialized support for student with various conditions and disabilities.

If your student has a disability, please contact CEDARS for a range of supportive services.

Disability is a broad term to cover a wide range of conditions and illnesses. They can be temporary or permanent and include :

  • Attention deficit/ hyperactive disorders
  • Autism /autistic spectrum disorders
  • Hearing impairments
  • Mental illnesses
  • Physical/mobility disabilities
  • Specific learning disabilities (e.g. dyslexia)
  • Speech impairments
  • Visceral disabilities
  • Visual impairments
Religious Needs

The University supports diversity. The Halal Food Corner has been launched since September 2009 and this eating outlet is not merely a place for consumption of Muslim food, it is also a platform for promotion of food culture and interaction among university members.

A multi-faith Prayer Room is also made available at the 1/F of the Fong Shu Chuen Amenities Centre for use by students and staff members. It offers an option for those who are in need of special praying venue during the day.

Diversity Network

Diversity Networks encourage students to be more sensitive to prejudice and biases related to gender, ethnicity, age, abilities, sexual orientation, religion, family status, etc. and acknowledge the contributions and needs of the culturally diverse individuals and groups.
